Re-Engaging Students Through Specialist Evening Education
Our mission is to help young people re-engage with learning through a specialist evening provision that corrects the rigidity of the traditional school day. We envision a supportive environment where every learner can rediscover their academic potential and prepare for success with confidence.
Our Story
After Hours Education was founded with a singular purpose: to support young people who find the traditional secondary school environment an obstacle to their success. We recognised that for many students, the late afternoon and evening provide a calmer, more focused window for learning — free from the social and academic pressures of the mainstream day.

What began as a small GCSE support initiative has grown into a specialist alternative provision. Our founders, experienced secondary educators, saw first-hand that consistent structure and clear routine, delivered outside usual school hours, could disrupt patterns of disengagement and help learners rebuild confidence in their academic ability.

Operating from 4pm to 8pm, we create a purposeful, professional learning environment that feels distinct from past school experiences. Structure is non-negotiable, cohorts are intentionally small, and expectations are high. Every student receives focused teaching and dedicated pastoral support, ensuring they not only achieve their qualifications but regain confidence and direction in their education.
Our Core Values
Safeguarding First
The safety of our students is non-negotiable. With onsite DSLs and strict DBS protocols, we create a secure, supervised environment where every young person feels protected and heard.
Pastoral Support
We look beyond the classroom. Our holistic approach focus on structure and calm routines, helping learners rebuild confidence and find their voice within a specialist pastoral framework.
High Expectations
We believe in our students' potential. By setting professional standards and clear GCSE targets, we foster a culture of respect where young people are empowered to achieve their personal best.
Small Cohorts
Learning is professional and personal. Our small group settings (maximum 15 students) allow Lead Tutors to provide the intensive support needed to re-engage with English and Maths GCSEs.
Why Choose After Hours Education?
Small Group Teaching
We intentionally keep our cohorts small, unlike mainstream secondary schools where larger class sizes can limit individual attention. This allows every student to receive focused academic support and consistent pastoral guidance, creating the space they need to rebuild confidence and re-engage with learning.
GCSE Core Focus
Specialist, intensive GCSE tuition in English and Maths, delivered by experienced and fully qualified subject teachers. Our focused provision for Years 9–11 ensures high expectations, strong subject expertise and measurable academic progress.
Structured Routines
Our evening framework (4pm-8pm) provides a calm, disciplined environment that helps students establish consistency beyond the school day.
Strong Communication
We maintain real-time links with schools and families, providing clear progress reporting and attendance tracking for peace of mind.
